iKamper Skycamp Review Is Now Online

I have started 10ts-tents.com because more and more cool, interesting, innovative products are out there for campers, overlanders and hikers etc. and there is a distinct lack of reliable information available on them. The iKamper Skycamp review is the first of many to come.

Why the Skycamp 2X?

Why did I start with the Skycamp 2X? Because it has a very interesting, unique design that grasped my interest. I wanted to know more about it, but there was very little information available? There was almost NONE! The online media is very slow in picking up the crumbs and I have not seen (independent) reviews on almost any of the rooftop tents that have come out 2-3 years ago. The iKamper Skycamp is a prime example. It has been around since 2017, there is a facelift model available already. And yet, if you are not lucky enough to own one it is very difficult to get to know them

What Is The Verdict?

Although there are a few compromises you have to make if you do choose iKamper’s 2-person rooftop tent, the positives still outweigh the negatives. Such a strange hybrid shape! It is half-way between being a hard-shell and a soft-shell rooftop tent, and there are very few similar rooftents on the market. This is its advantage, and its disadvantage too. It is too pricey for a soft shell roof top tent. It lacks the rigidity of a hard-shell tent (despite the hard shell).

So I only recommend the Skycamp 2X if you are looking for an interesting, small rooftop tent. You have to live with the lack of wind-resistance and then, you won’t be disappointed. However, in terms of functionality there are cheaper and – in my opinion – better alternatives.
